Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran looks set to leave the club this summer, with an update on his next move now provided.

The summer transfer market has been split between arrivals and departures so far at Aston Villa

At the start of the window, Monchi’s focus was on easing the club’s PSR woes as Douglas Luiz, Omari Kellyman and Tim Iroegbunam left to generate profit.

After welcoming seven new faces to the squad, it looks as though focus has returned to outgoings, with Moussa Diaby and Jhon Duran both having their Villa futures in doubt.

Jhon Duran shares update on his future at Aston Villa amid transfer interest from West Ham and Chelsea

Currently, Duran is away from the pre-season action at Villa as he recovers from Colombia’s run in the Copa America.

Duran’s nation reached the final of the tournament, coming up short against Emi Martinez’s Argentina.

Whilst being on his holiday’s, the Villa striker spoke to Caracol Radio, where he was quizzed on his future in B6.

“I am very calm about these issues, I don’t take it that way, my dad does take it differently, but it is important to be on the radar of teams like Chelsea and others and to keep working .”

Chelsea’s interest in the 20-year-old began in January and has been carried into the summer although West Ham currently look to be the more interested party.

The Hammers have made two attempts to sign Duran, whose agent confirmed Julen Lopetegui’s interest in his client.

“There is a lot of interest from West Ham, there have been talks with them and the club. We will see what happens in the rest of the market.”

It certainly looks as though Duran will not be a Villa player by deadline day, as the club continue to push to receive their asking price.

Villa will be relieved to see Duran depart

It’s a shame that Duran is likely to leave Villa this summer after arriving from the MLS in January 2023.

The Colombia international has showcased his potential early into his career, being a reliable and exciting alternative to Ollie Watkins.

What’s more of a shame is Duran’s desire to cut ties with Villa, as it becomes clear that he no longer wants to just be Watkins’ number two, sharing his desire to join Chelsea on social media.

For Villa, it will be a relief when the 20-year-old finally secures a move away from the Midlands, as he clearly does not want to be a part of Unai Emery’s project any further.
