Aston Villa are poised to part ways with Moussa Diaby in the coming days as Monchi prepares to pull off another masterclass.

The summer transfer window has been strong for Aston Villa so far, despite Unai Emery losing some first team names.

Douglas Luiz was the first to depart to Juventus, with Moussa Diaby now also poised to exit the club just a year after arriving at Bodymoor Heath.

Emery and Monchi have also welcomed six new arrivals to integrate into the squad however, currently, the focus is on Diaby’s pending farewell.

Aston Villa set to make impressive profit as Moussa Diaby sale to Al-Ittihad moves closer

Not many would have predicted that Villa would be prepared to part ways with Diaby this summer, as the club broke the bank to sign him in 2023.

The Frenchman was captured for a club-record fee only 12 months ago however, it’s not bad business from Monchi to promptly move the player on.

As reported by the Mirror, Villa are set to sanction Diaby’s exit to Al-Ittihad for a hefty £60m, meaning that the club will make a profit on the player just a year after his arrival.

The report cites that after paying £51.7m to sign the 25-year-old, Monchi is expected to earn the club a profit of £8.3m by agreeing to his exit to Saudi Arabia.

As well as securing a profit on his price tag, Villa will be relieved of his £130k-a-week wages, where he was the club’s fourth-highest earning player last season.

Another transfer masterclass at Villa for Monchi

It’s remarkably good business from Monchi, who has orchestrated the summer transfer window expertly so far at Villa Park.

While it’s a shame for the club to see Diaby leave so prematurely, it’s fascinating to see the Frenchman leave for a profitable sum, considering his stance in Emery’s squad.

The manager dropped Diaby to the bench after his fast start to the 2023/24 season dropped off magnificently, as he went from a record-signing to a dispensable figure in claret and blue.

Now, Diaby will exit for a fee that will place him as Villa’s second-highest sale in history, falling behind only Jack Grealish who left for £100m to join Manchester City.

When revising the difference in impact at Villa between Grealish and Diaby, it’s staggering to comprehend that the club are set to strike such a financially strong deal after just 12 months.

The deal is set to become official in the coming days, as Diaby’s time in B6 nears a premature yet profitable end.
