One of Unai Emery’s transfer targets could be set for a Premier League return, five years after his Aston Villa exit.
Already, Monchi and Unai Emery have welcomed seven new faces to Aston Villa in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.
While Villa have made a rapid start to business in the summer transfer window, speculation suggests that there is more to come before deadline day.
One position Emery is on the hunt to replenish is the striker role however, it now looks unlikely that one target will return to Villa Park.

Everton make contact with Roma to sign former Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham
Earlier this summer, it was reported that Villa were favourites to sign Tammy Abraham, who is remembered fondly for his time in B6 back in the 2018/19 campaign.
The Englishman helped Villa on their quest to promotion, netting 26 Championship goals on loan from Chelsea.
It’s clear to see why Emery was keen to bring Abraham back to Villa Park this summer however, it now looks as though a fellow Premier League club have overtaken the Villans in the race.
Journalist Gianluigi Longari reported this week that Everton have initiated contact with Roma over a possible deal to sign Abraham.
After a season tainted by injury, it looks likely that the Chelsea academy graduate will leave Rome this summer, with the race now on as far as Premier League interest goes.
Abraham is due a Premier League return
Villa saw just how clinical Abraham can be when leading the line, as he fired Dean Smith’s side to promotion back in 2019.
Five years down the line and Villa are rumoured to be eyeing the striker once more, this time to help with their Champions League campaign.
Whether it be Villa or Everton, it would be thrilling to see Abraham back in the Premier League after three years in Italy.
The season after his loan spell at Villa, the Blues were keen to utilise their academy star, seeing the now 26-year-old go on to score 15 Premier League goals over the 2019/20 calendar.
Everyone at Villa is aware of what Abraham is capable of, with there perhaps some feeling of deflation as Everton make their move to sign the forward.
Emery’s hunt for a forward is heating up, with the former Villa loanee having the perfect skill set to fill such void although, it appears that the race is currently in the Toffees’ hands.
