It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Aston Villa are yet to set a price tag on Douglas Luiz amidst Arsenal interest.

As they have for many seasons now, Arsenal are showing interest in signing Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.

Under Unai Emery, as many players have, Luiz has come on leaps and bounds and become an important cog at Villa Park.

With him returning to the Brazil national team for the upcoming international break, interest was bound to spike.

The Villans currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League, just three points behind Manchester City at the summit.

It has been an excellent start to the Premier League and Emery won’t want any of his stars leaving for rival teams.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Douglas Luiz?

In recent years, Villa haven’t been a club to turn over and show their belly when teams come in for their stars.

The last time this happened was when Jack Grealish made his move to City, but a release clause created that situation.

With the Villans seemingly learning from this, there have been no reports of release clauses in Luiz’s contract.

Discussing Arsenal’s interest with CaughtOffside, Romano said: “It’s important to clarify at this point that there is no asking price because Villa insist they want to keep Douglas Luiz in January.

“He’s a key player for them. So it would take an important bid for Arsenal to convince Villa and to sign Douglas in January, it’s not easy.”

It is safe to say that the Brazil international is one of the most important players in B6 right now. The club are very unlikely to let him go at any price.

With that being said, Romano doesn’t believe that will put the Gunners off: “But for sure he remains one of their top names in the list for that position, considered a top player.”

All Villa fans will be hopeful that their number six will stay with the club for many years given just how good he has been.

Having signed a long-term contract not so long ago there is definitely a level of security should Mikel Arteta come knocking.
