One of the most exciting transfer windows awaits Aston Villa this summer.
For the first time in decades, Aston Villa could go into the transfer market as a Champions League club.
That comes with its own pulling power, and given the ambition of the club, as long as they comply with FFP rules, then the world is your oyster.
Transfer expert and HITC journalist Graeme Bailey has spoken exclusively to Aston Villa News about what departments could be filled.
As of this moment, Unai Emery is pretty bulked up in the centre-back department, he has Ezri Konsa, Diego Carlos, Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, Calum Chambers and Clement Lenglet (loan) to pick from.
Of course, Villa were put in an unfortunate situation when Mings suffered an ACL injury in August and it has since kept him out of the entire campaign.
That’s why Lenglet was brought in from Barcelona until the end of the season, but it’s not guaranteed that he stays beyond the summer.
The 28-year-old has played 23 games in all competitions, he has been a regular starter in Europe, up until the knockout stages and has also started 13 Premier League matches.
Graeme Bailey has told us that if the Frenchman doesn’t extend his stay in B6, then Villa will look for ‘another centre-half’.

The name of Wolves captain Max Kilman was mentioned, with the Englishman enjoying a very fruitful campaign across the Midlands.
Max Kilman and Clement Lenglet at Aston Villa
“They’ve got Clement Lenglet’s situation at the back to look at as well,” Bailey told Aston Villa News.
“If he doesn’t stay, they’ll probably look for another centre-half as well, especially a left-sider. I know they’ve been linked to Max Kilman, Wolves wouldn’t necessarily rule that out.”

Max Kilman would be an amazing signing for Aston Villa
One worry since the turn of the year has been the number of goals conceded, especially from set-pieces and crosses.
Some sort of adjustment needs to happen in the summer and it will be interesting to see what road the club goes down.
What we also need to take into account is Mings has been out for a long time, suffered the third ACL injury of his career and is 31.
Even though he will be ready for next season, you can’t guarantee that his performances will be of the level required because of how long he has been out for.
That’s why a signing such as Kilman would be outstanding. He is progressing at an amazing rate at Wolves and is probably ready for that step up to Europe.
The great thing with Kilman is that he can mix it up. From being old school and aggressive, but also showcasing those modern-day traits.
