Further reports have been released suggesting that Arsenal see Douglas Luiz as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey.

After a good start to the season for Aston Villa, it is no surprise that their stars are being linked with moves away.

Under the influence of Unai Emery, many players have only gotten better. This as the club has gone from strength to strength.

With the international break taking place right now, stars like Ezri Konsa and Douglas Luiz have been called up.

The Brazilian has already been linked to Arsenal in recent weeks and those rumours refuse to go away right now.

What has been said about Douglas Luiz?

It is safe to say that Luiz has been one of the most integral players to the Villans’ rise up the Premier League this season.

His partnership with Boubacar Kamara has been one of the key talking points of Emery’s tactical set-up since coming in.

Speaking with Give Me Sport, Dean Jones has suggested that the Gunners may come in and disrupt this partnership.

With injuries hampering Thomas Partey’s campaign, Mikel Arteta is likely to look for a different option. This has seen Luiz as well as Martín Zubimendi, be linked with a move to North London.

On that, Jones said: “I totally think that Douglas Luiz is a good replacement to consider for Thomas Partey, there’s no doubt about that.”

In saying that, Villa are in a strong position nowadays with the Villans sitting three points off top spot of the Premier League.

With that being said, Jones added: “I just think it’s unrealistic in January. I’m not even sure it’s realistic in the summer. This given the way that Aston Villa are building at the moment, and how well he’s playing.”

The ownership situation in B6, combined with the quality of manager and squad will see a huge fee demanded for the Brazilian.

On that, Jones continued: “I think that the valuation around him too, you’re looking at upwards of £60m. That’s pretty difficult to achieve. From what I understand Arsenal in January are looking for cheaper players.”

It is hoped by Villa fans that a high price may put off any potential buyers. His importance to the squad makes him almost priceless to Emery and Co.
