Aston Villa have not been afraid to let their star players leave Villa Park this summer.
Unai Emery has overseen the departures of both Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby in recent weeks with Jhon Duran also strongly linked to West Ham.
This has been part of a massive shake-up in the Villa squad as they prepare for their upcoming campaign.
One of the biggest signings so far this summer was the acquisition of left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. Villa had an insecure in defence in 2024, with the new addition no doubt aiming to put an end to the club’s leaky backline.
However, this has potentially cast doubts on Lucas Digne’s future, with the full-back no longer guaranteed game time.
Yet, with rumours circling suggesting that the Frenchman is on the verge of departing, the defender quickly shot down the reports.

Lucas Digne claims there is ‘no truth’ in Galatasary rumours

Digne was a crucial part of the Villa team last season as they reached Champions League football.
As one of the more experienced players in the side, he helped ensure the club got over the line and achieved fourth place.
The full-back was part of multiple crucial moments and Digne memorably netted a last-minute winner against Luton.
Yet, according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Villa were ready to depart with the fullback. Galatasary had reportedly reached an agreement with Digne and had submitted an official offer to Villa to acquire his services.
However, Digne then replied to the report on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that information was ‘not true’.
Despite this, Sabuncuoğlu then replied back to Digne showing a leaked document showcasing that Galatasaray may have sent the offer to Villa after all.

Lucas Digne looks unlikely to leave Aston Villa

While Galatasaray may have put in an offer for Digne, it seems unlikely that he will make the move.
Villa should also seek to hold onto the Frenchman for their upcoming season. Digne has plenty of experience and is one of the few members of the squad with Champions League experience.
Going into the new campaign, this could be vital for the club to ensure they progress into the knockout stages.
With Digne also unlikely to command a big fee, holding onto the full-back for at least another season would be the wise move.
