Aston Villa are open to offers for Lucas Digne this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton are hoping to offload Lucas Digne in the current transfer window. Napoli are interested in signing the full-back, who could already be set to leave Villa Park, having only joined the club in January 2022 in a £25 million switch from Everton. He isn’t the only player Unai Emery wants to shift this summer.
Emery joined Aston Villa after Digne’s arrival though, and since the Spanish coach’s appointment, Digne has seen his game time become increasingly limited. The Villans signed Alex Moreno in January, and he has since established himself as Emery’s first choice left-back. Digne only managed five Premier League starts after the end of January.

What next for Lucas Digne?
At 29-years-old, Digne still has plenty of football ahead of him. However, he needs to get back to being a regular starter if he wants to add to his tally of 46 caps for France. Digne’s quality isn’t in question. He is reliable at the back, and has the capacity to deliver brilliant crosses into the box. Stylistically, he just isn’t quite the right fit for Villa under Emery.
From Villa’s point of view, if they can recoup something close to the fee they paid to bring Digne to the club, then getting the Frenchman and his wages off the books this summer makes sense.
Napoli in Serie A would be an interesting prospect for Digne, but there’s likely to be plenty of Premier League interest in his services now that Aston Villa have made their position on his availability clear.
