Marcos Acuna seemed nailed on to join Unai Emery at Aston Villa this summer, but an injury has put that in doubt.
Last week, following the Super Cup, it appeared highly likely that Aston Villa would secure this signing.
Marcos Acuna was tipped as Unai Emery’s ideal solution to the left-back position which was a growing concern.
Villa bounced back following their 5-1 opening weekend defeat as they smashed Everton 4-0 at Villa Park.
Despite this deals are continuing to be discussed, however major doubt has been cast on a move for Acuna.

Acuna picks up hamstring injury
It is no secret that Emery loves to shop in the Spanish market, however Acuna could be one he needs to leave on the shelf.
Spanish outlet Marca have reported that Acuna has suffered a hamstring injury, during Sevilla’s defeat to Alaves on Monday.
This will see him undergo medical tests on Wednesday to determine the severity of his injury.
Anything severe would almost guarantee a move doesn’t materialise.
With just nine days of the window lest, it’s likely that Villa will have to stick with Lucas Digne or find another target at short notice.
Digne given a second chance
With Acuna being strongly linked, it could’ve been assumed that Digne wasn’t favoured by Emery.
However with that deal on the verge of collapse, Digne could have been thrown the chance to prove himself.
With it unlikely Villa will rush into signing an alternative, Digne might be given until January to change Emery’s mind.
He has already started this well, after a good performance against Everton last weekend in the 4-0 win.
