Aston Villa are seen to be looking for attacking reinforcements and now it appears they are after 17-year old, Yannick Eduardo.

A great season for Aston Villa has reached the halfway point and now the January transfer window is open for business.

This campaign, Unai Emery has often opted to make limited changes to his starting XI. Whether this be due to a lack of quality or squad depth, the winter window poses the chance to change that.

With that being said, the recent weeks’ results have seen a narrow win over Burnley, a draw to Sheffield United and a loss to Manchester United. At times during these games, the creativity of the Villans has been questioned.

With that being said, Ollie Watkins has been in top-class form this season. According to FotMob, the England international has nine goals and eight assists in the Premier League.

Add to this the form of Leon Bailey who has six goals and five assists, Villa do have plenty of attacking threat already.

Now they are said to be interested in a young starlet who is doing well in the UEFA Youth League this season.

Aston Villa ‘surprise interest’ in Yannick Eduardo

It has been no secret that Villa are looking to make some moves in the January transfer window. In recent weeks stars like Matt O’Riley and Cyril Ngonge have been linked with a move to B6. Now it appears that the Villans are in for a more youthful option.

According to John Percy for The Telegraph, Villa are showing an interest in RB Leipzig starlet, Yannick Eduardo. The journalist has said: “A surprise target could be RB Leipzig attacker Yannick Eduardo.”

The 17-year old is a striker and has had a positive campaign in front of goal so far. Featuring in the Youth League and Under 19s Bundesliga, the Dutchman has impressed. In the German league, he has clocked up seven goals and three assists, according to Transfermarkt.

This isn’t quite as impressive as his form on the European stage. He has scored as many goals as he has played in. He has scored five goals in five games showing as has shown his quality this season. This makes him the joint top scorer in the whole competition, but he has a better ratio.

Although Eduardo would be a good signing for the future, for now, this one doesn’t make so much sense. Given that the Villans are in a Champions League hunt, signings for the here and now are needed. Signing a 17-year old this winter, may not be completely useful or what Villa need.
