Aston Villa could lose another youngster who the club has only just brought back to the club with Bournemouth and Middlesbrough both linked.

Villa’s youngsters have been one of the major talking points of the transfer window so far. Unai Emery lost many of his upcoming talents in June in order to help stop any PSR breaches before the deadline.

While ‘pure profit’ can be made from any departing youngster it also means that the club loses the chance to harness their potential.

Now, it seems that another youngster could be about to depart Villa as Cameron Archer is linked to both Middlesbrough and Bournemouth.

Archer has only just rejoined Villa this summer. The striker spent last season at Sheffield United but has now returned to Villa Park due to a clause in his contract that was activated upon the Blades’ relegation.

The 22-year-old was on fire in the 2022/23 campaign at Middlesbrough where he netted 11 times in 22 games. However, his spell at Sheffield United was less fruitful as he only scored four times.

With Villa now set to play in the Champions League, it is unlikely that Archer will have a big part to play for the Birmingham outfit next season which could result in another move.

According to the Northern Echo, Middlesbrough are interested in bringing back Archer to the Riverside Stadium. However, a big stumbling block is the potential cost of the deal as well as the striker’s desire to play Premier League football.

Bournemouth are also believed to be interested after heavy links with the youngster.

It is clear that Archer is not going to get into Villa’s first team this season. After his poor spell at the Blades, it would be a major shock if Emery keeps him in his plans this upcoming campaign.

While he is unlikely to go for as much as he did last summer, Villa could still get a good sum of money for him.

Perhaps a wiser move would also be to go down a similar route as they did with Jaden Philogene where Mochi inserted a buy-back clause and a sell-on fee in case he showed signs of reaching his potential.

Archer clearly has ability but with Ollie Watkins so far in front of the youngster, a permanent move would be best for all parties.
