Aston Villa look set to let goalkeeper, Filip Marschall leave on loan this January as a move to MK Dons appears to be nearing.
It has been a quiet window for Aston Villa but it looks as if they are set to see their second departure of the month.
There has been one sale made as Finn Azaz confirmed a £2.5m move to Middlesbrough as his Plymouth loan was cut short.
Across the window there appears to be plenty of rumours but no material incomings. It looks as if Kosta Nedeljković is going to join the club this month and become the first signing.
There have been rumoured outgoings such as Leander Dendoncker and Bertrand Traore but nothing has come up yet.
Now there appears to be a deal on the table which will see a youngster depart on his first EFL loan from the club.
Filip Marschall set for MK Dons loan
This season saw Filip Marschall make his debut for Aston Villa as he started against Zrinjski Mostar in the Europa Conference League.
He has also become the backup goalkeeper to Emi Martinez in recent weeks as Robin Olsen has been missing with injury.
Although that may be the case, he now appears to be making a move to further his development out on loan.
In a report by Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, he outlined the move and suggested it should happen soon.
On that, he said: “Aston Villa are letting keeper Filip Marschall leave to sign for League Two improvers MK Dons. Marschall was on the Villa bench at Everton on Sunday after meeting Dons for talks last week.
“However Marschall is now clear to fix up the loan move and that will also push Craig McGillivray to leave Milton Keynes.”
With that being the case, this could leave Villa short in the goalkeeper department should Martinez suffer an injury.
New keeper signing possible for Aston Villa
There have been rumours suggesting that Villa are interested in signing a young goalkeeper in this January transfer window. This is yet to bring any links or rumours as of yet.
With Marschall going out on loan and Olsen looking as if he is suffering from a long (-ish) term injury. Should the Argentine number one be missing, it would be James Wright in goal which can not be risked.
The revolving door at Villa Park may be in operation in the coming weeks based on the youngster’s departure.
If he goes out, another goalkeeper could and probably should come in to maintain a good level of squad depth.
