Villa returned to winning ways at Villa Park on Saturday as they overcame Nottingham Forest 4-2. It was almost a disaster for the hosts as Forest staged a comeback from 3-0 down to take it to 3-2. However, Leon Bailey’s got Villa’s fourth goal to settle the tie and confirm the victory.

Many were impressive during the game and midfielder John McGinn highlighted one man who is vital to their success.

Pau Torres has been fantastic for Villa this season and showed his class against Forest despite only playing 45 minutes. McGinn praised the defender as ‘like a new signing’ after returning from injury.

After Pau Torres came off at half-time against Forest, he was replaced by Chambers. The defender has struggled for game time this season and his appearance on Saturday was his first in the Premier League this season.

Taking to X after the win, he said: “No matter what, I train my hardest every day to make sure I’m at the best level I can be to perform! Picking up these 3 points is exactly what I work for!”
