Former Aston Villa striker, Wesley has reacted to Aston Villa’s win over Brentford and the sending off of Ben Mee.
This weekend, Aston Villa travelled to face Brentford and were able to come back from behind to secure all three points.
This was the fourth time this season that Unai Emery’s side have come back from behind to secure points in the Premier League.
Villa went 1-0 down thanks to Keane Lewis Potter’s first-ever Premier League goal just minutes before halftime. The away side bounced back thanks to goals, first from Alex Moreno and just minutes later, Ollie Watkins.
There were 14 cards throughout the game with all but one coming after a red card from Ben Mee. His dangerous challenge on Leon Bailey was given a yellow before VAR upgraded it to a red.

This gave Villa fans flashbacks to another moment where a tackle from Mee put a player in danger.
How has Welsey reacted to Ben Mee’s red card?
Cast your minds back to 2020. It was Villa’s first season back in the Premier League and they were pretty desperate for points.
The Villans travelled to Turf Moor to face Burnley on New Year’s Day looking to turn their fortunes around. Playing a five-back formation for the first time, Villa were on fire until two injuries derailed the game and their season. Tom Heaton went off due to an injury which all but ended his career in B6.
The other was Wesley who opened the scoring on the day with a comfortable touch and finish. It appeared that the style of play had clicked and Villa looked truly dangerous.
Thanks to a terrible scissor tackle from Mee, the Brazilian suffered an injury which also ended his career at Villa. He did go on to make limited appearances over the coming years but nothing that caught the eye. He now is a squad option for Stoke City in the Championship.
In a post to Twitter, Wesley said: “UTV”. Followed by two emojis, one of which was a laughing face.
Whether or not the tweet was in direct response to Mee or not, Wesley is routing for his former club and that is good to see. It never went right for the Brazilian at Villa Park, partially down to that challenge in 2020.
How has Alan Shearer reacted to Ben Mee?
The Englishman flew in with a challenge which has been slammed by pundits, despite Thomas Frank disagreeing with the decision.
Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Alan Shearer said: “As clear a red card as you’re going to see. Ben Mee is high, he’s out of control, both feet are off the ground. If that leg [Bailey’s leg] is planted down there then that’s a broken leg I’m afraid.”
Although the challenge didn’t appear to hurt Bailey, that doesn’t matter. The challenge was shin height and was lucky to not seriously injure him as he did to Wesley.
