Aston Villa refuse to give up on the fight to complete a move for Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto, despite Everton reaching an agreement.
The Italian international has garnered a lot of interest this summer from clubs like Inter Milan and Aston Villa, thanks to his impressive displays for Leeds last season.
However, it was suggested by Gnonto’s agent last week that his preference is to remain in the Premier League.

Villa, however, will have to speed up their chase with Leeds United accepting an £18.8million bid from Everton according to Sport Italia.
The Italian outlet claims that Goodison Park is likely the next location for the talent 19-year-old.
However, Villa are said to still be extremely keen on him, and haven’t given up the ghost yet.
Emery refuses to let go
The race for the 12-cap Italian is seemingly a lot closer than a fee agreement would suggest. With Calcio Mercato’s Alessio Lento saying, Sean Dyche’s side face substantial competition from Unai Emery who is “not letting go” in his pursuit for Gnonto.
Gnonto has been an ever-present in links to Villa, and appears that Emery is extremely keen on signing the winger.
Gnonto’s debut season in the Premier League saw him rack up two goals and four assists in 24 games. Which is a solid return in a team that struggled throughout the season, and ultimately got relegated to the Championship.
With Europa Conference League football next season, Emery is keen to bring in all the quality he can. Gnonto seems to be among Emery’s top targets, given how passionately he is pursuing the Italian.
From an outside perspective, it seems an obvious decision to choose Villa over Everton, given the two sides’ situations. It is a choice that Gnonto now finds himself possibly having to make.
