Inter Milan are set to rival Aston Villa for the signature of Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto, according to reports.

We previously reported on July 4th that Villa were targeting the Italian international. The report came from Football Italia who said that The Villa has “made an approach” for the Leeds winger.

Leeds have reportedly place a value of €25million (£21m) onto Gnonto who has four years left on his contract.

Gnonto’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli has also been speaking loudly about a potential move, claiming his client is keen on a return to the Premier League.

Speaking on Calciomercato’s TVPlay via LeedsLive, he said that:

“I think there will be options. The Premier League experience has been fantastic for him and I think he wants to continue in that direction.”

Leeds are thought to be in a poor position to keep their star due to the relegation they suffered last season.

It now appers that Villa face an increased level of competition to sign the 19-year-old.

Inter to challenge Villa for Gnonto

Gnonto is sure to depart Leeds this summer but his destination is less clear. Villa’s effort to sign the talented Italian could have taken a hit in the past few days as a picture on Twitter might have suggested.

Gnonto’s agent was spotted reportedly at Inter Milan’s headquarters on Thursday. This prompted Italian journalist Simone Togna to write: “[Vigorelli] here with collaborator Pesca and Inter CEO Antonello.”

This could signify that a move to the Champions League runners’ up could be on the cards for Gnonto.

Despite this, Villa will be holding onto the fact Gnonto is said to favour a Premier League move. Also Vigorelli is the agent to a number of Serie A and Italian stars including Nicolò Zaniolo.

He also has one player on the books at Inter in 20-year-old Filippo De Milato.
