Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery has conducted an interview with the club’s official channel, discussing a whole manager of topics.

Emery joined Villa in October last year and the Villains have gone from strength to strength under the Spaniard.

Qualifying for the Europa Conference League last season will see the club play in Europe for the first time in 13 years.

This season has been a ‘rollercoaster‘ and has been interesting to say the least.

Two heavy losses against Newcastle United and Liverpool weren’t exactly happy moments.

On the flip side two wins over Hibernian, paired with easy wins over Everton and Burnley has lifted spirits in the camp.

This season, following the signings of big names; Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo, hopes are high.

What has Unai Emery said?

Mr Emery is a European expert if there ever was one.

Four Europa League titles and plenty of Europa and Champions League semi finals, featuring in European competition throughout his whole career.

When discussing playing in Europe with Villa he said: “It’s always it’s prestigious to play in Europe.

“For me, playing in Europe 16 years in a row, it’s very important to play with Aston Villa in the first year I am here, and we did the big effort last year to get it.”

He has high expectations of himself and his team in Europe: “I played seven times in semi-finals, five times in finals and I won four times.

“These experiences I had in my career, I want to try to do here with everybody in Villa Park and in Aston Villa matches.”

With all that being said, Emery has one thing in mind: “For me, the most important competition is the Premier League; it’s the most difficult league in the world because every match is being very difficult.

“Second is to be a contender in Europa Conference League and try to do one way being always with the possibility to end the season playing for a trophy.”

It appears that Villa fans could have a lot to look forward to this season on their European tour. Are we all going to Athens?
