Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery has refused to comment about the future of Jhon Duran following rumours linking him away from the club.

It has been a great season for Aston Villa which has only gotten better as they progressed to the FA Cup fourth round.

With Unai Emery at the helm, Villa have won their first third-round tie since 2016 to keep their name in the hat moving forward.

Thanks to a deflected Matty Cash strike, the Villans secured a 1-0 win away to Middlesbrough yesterday night.

Prior to the game, there was plenty of conversation regarding young talent, Jhon Duran. His name has been linked with a move to AC Milan following reports of some unsettled behaviour.

Despite all this, he started against Middlesbrough in the cup but he failed to make an impact and was substituted for Ollie Watkins.

Unai Emery gives short Jhon Duran statement

It has been a tough campaign for the £18m 20-year old, such has been his general lack of minutes at times. With that being said, he did come in from the start against Boro.

In the Premier League, he has so far registered 148 minutes and has two goals in that short period of time. This has reportedly seen him kick up a bit of a fuss behind the scenes which saw him out of the squad at times.

This week has seen AC Milan show an interest in signing Duran which potentially won’t have helped the unrest in camp. As a result of this, fans were growing concerned over the future of the Colombian at Villa Park.

Following the win against Middlesbrough, Emery was asked about Duran and his future at the club by the Birmingham Mail.

In a short reply, the Spaniard said: “I am going to speak about the players that are here now and I don’t want to change nothing.”

It appears that the Villa manager wasn’t keen on talking about Duran and the situation regarding his potential move away.

It seems like Emery isn’t looking to let the 20-year old depart this January, but reports of unrest won’t help the atmosphere around the club. With him starting those rumours may quieten down during the transfer window.

There is no doubt in the ability that Duran possesses but he needs to take some time to grow into his role as a player for the Villans. Every player under Emery has improved and if he can learn he will develop into a great player in the future.
