Aston Villa managed to overcome Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup 2-1, as the victory resulted in Unai Emery hitting a special milestone.

Over the past two years, Villa have shot up the Premier League table. The days of fighting relegation seem a distant memory as the club has now turned into one of the best sides in the division.

Much of this is down to the brilliance of one man, Emery. Since the Spaniard came through the door in late 2022, he has helped completely turn the club around.

After reaching the Europa Conference League in his first season, Villa are now back in the Champions League for the first time since 1983.

Now, Emery has written himself into another part of Claret and Blue history after the Birmingham outfit managed to overcome Wycombe in the Carabao Cup.

Going into the 2024/25 campaign, it was well-known that Emery was on the verge of breaking a new Villa record.

The Villa manager needed six victories and the Spaniard has quickly delivered each one to put the Birmingham outfit in a strong position.

An opening day result against West Ham was quickly followed by additional wins over Leicester City, Everton and Wolves. On top of this, Emery masterminded a 3-0 victory over Young Boys to get their Champions League campaign off to a great start.

Now, the result over Wycombe means that Emery has achieved 50 victories at the Claret and Blue side, a feat he has achieved in just 90 matches.

Unai Emery is one of Aston Villa’s best-ever managers

Given Emery’s short time in charge, the feats the Villa manager has achieved are sensational.

It’s easy to forget that the Spaniard is only in his second full season at Villa Park, yet they are now one of the best teams in England.

If they do continue on this trajectory, there is no doubt Emery will go down as one of the best-ever managers at Villa.

The only thing that has alluded the manager so far at the club is a trophy, but after their victory in the Carabao Cup, he is on the right track to end this streak.
