Morgan Rogers’ rise at Aston Villa in 2024 has been nothing short of exceptional since his move in February 2024.

Rogers has had an unbelievable last 12 months. After joining up with Unai Emery at Villa Park at the start of the year, he has quickly grown to become one of the club’s top players.

By the end of the 2023/24 campaign, he helped the Villians achieve Champions League football with a fantastic fourth-place finish.

Now, since the start of the current season, Rogers has been nothing short of sensational.

Rogers earned the praise of Gary Lineker earlier this year after the youngster helped dismantle Young Boys.

Following this, Rogers picked up his first England cap in the most recent international fixtures.

After a memorable week, the attacker has now earned the praise of one of his former managers who has been delighted by his success.

Before Rogers made his move to Villa Park, the youngster made his trade at Middlesbrough. However, the attacker only managed to see out half a season at the club before Emery swooped in six months later.

Michael Carrick, who oversaw his short stay up north is now delighted that Rogers is doing so well.

“For Morgan [Rogers] I’m delighted,” he told Sky Sports. “He’s a terrific lad, he’s got a great attitude and loves the game. He’s had an unbelievable year and I’m delighted to see him make that next step and hopefully, that’s something he can continue doing.”

It was clear for everyone to see that Rogers had potential. In the Championship, the winger netted five times in six Carabao Cup games as he helped the club reach the semi-finals.

Now, after making the jump to the Premier League and earning his first England cap, Rogers is well on his way to becoming a top player.

However, when Carrick never thought such achievements would happen so soon for Rogers.

“I don’t think we could have envisaged it happening so quickly,” he added. “The reason we brought him here is because he has huge talent and potential at the time. You could see it straight away close up in training what he was capable of doing.

“Consistency was something as with any young player that we were trying to help him with. He took the big step in January and he hasn’t looked back and he’s getting better and better. He deserves it, he does a lot of good things and he does it in the right way so I’m really pleased for him.”

Morgan Rogers could become Aston Villa’s star player

It’s hard to believe that Rogers is only 22 years old. The winger possesses many characteristics in his play that are well beyond his age.

If he can continue to develop at his current rate, Rogers will easily end up as the best player at Villa Park in a few years.

The winger has already proved that he can do it on football’s biggest stage after numerous impressive performances in the Champions League.

Now, after signing a new long-term contract at Villa, hopefully, this means that Rogers is here for the foreseeable future.
