Aston Villa were comfortable 3-0 winners in the Champions League against Young Boys and one player was dubbed a ‘handful’.

Unai Emery couldn’t have asked for a much better start to the season at Aston Villa.

The Spaniard’s only defeat has come against Arsenal – a match they perhaps should have won – while securing wins over West Ham, Leicester, Everton and Young Boys.

Villa started their Champions League campaign in some style in Switzerland as goals from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana sent them to joint top of the table.

That above trio were instrumental to their flying start in the competition however, there was another player who was also showered with praise.

Gary Lineker was blown away by Morgan Rogers vs Young Boys

Since signing from Middlesborough in the January transfer window, Morgan Rogers development has skyrocketed and he’s now one of the first names on the team sheet.

Due to his freakish upper body strength and searing pace, Rogers has been dubbed ‘unplayable’ on multiple occasions, including by Jamie Redknapp against Arsenal and TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher.

The Englishman’s performances in the number 10 role have been a joy to watch as he’s completely dominated the opposition and there’s no surprise that Gary Lineker has also praised the 22-year-old in the win over Young Boys.

Although Rogers didn’t score or provide an assist, he did complete four successful dribbles, four key passes while racking up an xG of 0.23.

Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker commented on his incredible attributes: “Morgan Rogers was excellent. Had a good goal disallowed as well. He’s a player, isn’t he? I mean, he’s a handful. When he runs at players, he’s just kind of goes past them really quickly. He’s so strong that he never gets knocked off the ball. I think he’s a real talent, a real talent.”

Morgan Rogers vs Wolves

It’s been said multiple times previously but the only aspect that is missing from Rogers game is goals and assists.

So far, there have been several occasions where Rogers was unselfish and played a teammate through instead of shooting from a promising position.

To reach the next level in his development, becoming a regular source of goals and assists is the youngster’s next challenge, with Wolves presenting a great opportunity to get off the mark.

Wolves haven’t kept a clean sheet in 16 matches, last doing so in a 1-0 win over Sheffield United in February. Rogers will be licking his lips at the chance to get on the scoresheet this weekend and it would be the perfect time to do so in a derby match.
