Aston Villa seem to be targeting a move for Argentine full-back Marcos Acuna, a player Pep Guardiola is a fan of.
Villa have identified a left-back as a position which requires some attention following last weekends 5-1 defeat at St. James’ Park.
This saw Lucas Digne a step off the pace and has clearly gave Unai Emery incentive to replace the Frenchman.
Digne has been linked with a move away, as Saudi Pro League sides reportedly hold an interest.
Therefore Emery has reportedly chosen Marcos Acuna as the ideal replacement for the potentially outgoing Frenchman.
Acuna was in action last night against Manchester City which signals that a deal isn’t close, but reports suggest the World Cup winner has ‘agreed’ to the move.

Guardiola praises Villa target
Pep Guardiola watched his side lift yet another trophy last night, as City defeated Sevilla on penalties.
Despite the Super Cup triumph, the legendary manager took time to mention Acuna by name in praise.
When quizzed in his post match press conference over Cole Palmer’s performance, Guardiola said:
“It’s not easy to play against defenders like Acuna for example, who is a top defender.”
Praise which will defiantly put Villa fans’ mind at ease over his potential incoming.
Latest on Acuna to Villa
Despite playing in Athens last night, Acuna could be imminently joining Villa.
According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Villa are keen to wrap up the signing on Thursday (today).
This sentiment is shared by Fabrizio Romano who suggests a deal could be sealed todays with new talks scheduled to take place.
He adds that personal terms with the defender are already agreed so won’t pose an issue.
