Aston Villa loanee, Nicolo Zaniolo has come out ahead of the clash with Tottenham Hotspur, discussing the quality of his team.

As a whole, Aston Villa have had a very positive start to the season. The Villans currently sit in fifth place and are three points off top spot in the Premier League.

There have been many standout names in B6 this campaign. Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa have received international call-ups for their performances.

On the flip side, some players have struggled with a lack of minutes. Players like Leander Dendoncker, amongst others, are linked with moves away.

One player who sits in the middle of these two camps is Nicolo Zaniolo. The Italian has featured regularly but has struggled as he is yet to get a goal or an assist this season.

With that being said, the loanee still received a call-up to the Italy national team during this international break.

What has Nicolo Zaniolo said?

The midfielder featured in both games for Luciano Spalletti’s side but was still unable to register a goal or assist.

It hasn’t been through a want of trying for the Villa man who has played well on several occasions in claret and blue. It just hasn’t happened yet.

Opening up about the Villans with Gianluca Di Marzio, Zaniolo has been discussing the upcoming Tottenham game.

On that, he said: “Aston Villa is a strong team. Now we have Tottenham and some quite difficult matches but we are a strong team and we can win against everyone if we do things the way they should be done.

“Then there are still many games left and the objectives are long now but we are certainly a strong team and we can have our say.”

A top-four finish is firmly in the sights of Villa fans considering the start to the season they have made. It appears with what Zaniolo is saying, this is in his mind’s eye also.

The Italian continued on to say: “Like everything, when you make a change you need time. I’m happy because the Premier League is a great championship, Aston Villa is a great team.

“But in any case I still have to adapt well and better . I have a lot of time ahead and we hope to do it well, I want to show my qualities.”

Even signings from the Premier League, like Youri Tielemans, have taken time to come up to speed under Unai Emery. Given Zaniolo is in a new league with a demanding manager, he may need more time develop.
