Aston Villa look unlikely to sign Federico Chiesa this summer as the player has shown no interest in joining them.

According to a report in Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Federico Chiesa is likely to leave Juventus this summer but isn’t keen on a switch to Villa Park after the Midlands club were quick to show interest in securing his services. Liverpool and Newcastle United represent the other Premier League interest in the player, and both clubs would likely hold greater appeal to Chiesa.

Aston Villa are in a great place at the moment. With Europa Conference League football on the horizon, Unai Emery has already added to his squad this summer. Youri Tielemans has joined on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City. However, there is more to be done, and the Villans are at least showing some positive ambition with their interest in Chiesa. It seems that they will need to look elsewhere in order to bolster their attack.

If not Chiesa, who?

Villa have previously shown interest in England under-21 international Emile Smith Rowe, but Arsenal have made it clear he is staying in north London. Meanwhile, Emery would like to bring in Harvey Barnes, but again they face competition from Newcastle to get a deal done, according to Birmingham Live.

Another potential option, in light of Chiesa’s lack of interest, is ex-Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres, who currently plies his trade for Barcelona. New president of football operations at Villa Park, Monchi, has pushed the club in Torres’ direction, as reported by Spanish outlet El Nacional.

Other attacking options are also being considered. Of course, things could also change in the race for Chiesa. If offers from other clubs don’t come to fruition, the 25-year-old may well reconsider his stance on a switch to Villa.
