Aston Villa play host to Everton this weekend with the home side looking to recover from an embarrassing away defeat on opening day.

After a heavy 5-1 loss to Newcastle United at St James’ Park, it will be of great interest to what team Unai Emery goes with.

Everton fell to defeat at home to Fulham, 2.73 expected goals wasn’t enough to put the ball in the net.

Team news for Aston Villa

Tyrone Mings went off against the Magpies after what looked to be an ACL injury.

He is set to have surgery to right this issue, but will be out for an extended period.

Pau Torres replaced the injured Mings off the bench, but didn’t do himself many favours with many fans left uninspired by the new signing.

With Ezri Konsa making a costly mistake, and Diego Carlos coming on, there are plenty of options for Emery to choose from in defense.

There are no new injury concerns for the Villains.

Youri Tielemans replaced Leon Bailey at half time, the Jamaican didn’t play particularly well, not that anyone did.

Phillipe Coutinho and Jaden Philogene have been talked about a lot by fans, with the Villa faithful calling for them to start.

Team News for Everton

Sean Dyche is missing a large portion of his attacking options.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeil and Demarai Gray are all potentially out with prior injuries which kept them out of the Fulham game also.

Calvert-Lewin has featured in a behind closed doors game this week, so may be fit to play some part.

New signings Youssef Chermiti and Jack Harrison joined the club with existing injuries and will not be available for this fixture.

Ironically, Villa turned down a chance to sign Harrison but dropped interest after they discovered he was injured.

Ashley Young is fit to make an immediate return to Villa park just months after being released by the Midlands outfit.
