Journalist, Dean Jones has suggested that Aston Villa could make signings in the January window but will be cautious before throwing money around.

It has been a great start to the season for Aston Villa and with the January window coming up, the opportunity to add to the squad there.

In his time at Villa, Unai Emery has opted to use a small number of players this season, making the fewest changes to a starting XI this season.

With that being said there have still been links to multiple players in various positions to help strengthen them. From Nico Williams to Jeremie Frimpong there is a wide-ranging number of positions Villa are looking at.

NSWE has never shied away from splashing the cash around when it is needed. Looking at summers gone by £55m on Diaby, £25m on Carlos etc. Just to name a few. It appears the facilities are there for this upcoming window.

What has Dean Jones said?

It is clear for all to see that Villa are much improved over the past 12 months and they will be looking to add to that start. In a report by Dean Jones for GiveMeSport, he has suggested that the Villans will see January as an opportunity.

On that, Jones said: “I don’t think Aston Villa ever hold back. There has been some big spending in the past years, while they put this project together.

“They did the right thing in changing managers at the right time to give the squad the boost it needed, and the revamp could continue at the club.”

Since Emery has come in, the type of players he has seen come in has followed a similar path. Hardworking players with a desire to improve and work under the Spaniard’s tutelage.

This has worked a treat so far and has helped the Villans to move forward. On that, Jones added: “They are now in a fantastic situation where they’ve got momentum and belief. They will definitely believe that they are on the verge of becoming a side that is recognised again as being a stalwart of European football. That’s really important for them if they’re going to continue to attract top players.”

This is why securing Champions League football could be such an important turning point for the Villans. With them currently sitting in the top four right now and a potential title charge on, quality could take a shift forward.

On potential January signings, Jones finished saying: “I do think that they will get extra funds in January to invest, but they won’t just throw it around for the sake of it.”

This is something that NSWE have done in their whole time with the club so far and it won’t change anytime soon.
