Former Liverpool defender and current Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher has suggested Aston Villa are better than Manchester United currently.
After a great start to the season, Aston Villa find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League, three points off top spot.
Despite coming into the job with the club in 17th place, Unai Emery has worked wonders to now see the Villans be legitimate title contenders.
He only signed Alex Moreno and Jhon Duran in his first season. Despite that the Spaniard was able to take Villa into Europe for the first time since 2010.
This summer he made some higher-profile signings with Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans. These additions have seen the Villans take a seat at the top six table, for now.
What has Jamie Carragher said?
Speaking on Sky Sports, posted on Twitter, the pundit had voiced his opinion about Manchester United’s start to the season.
Despite a lacklustre opening to the campaign, they are one of the form sides of the league with four wins from their last five games.
With that being said, Erik ten Hag has still come under fire for a poor start. This sees the Red Devils sit in sixth, four points behind Villa.

Discussing United, Carragher said: “If you look over the last 12 months since Unai Emery came in if you are talking about Manchester United. Aston Villa are a better-coached team than United. There is absolutely no doubt about that.”
Not so long ago, this would be a dig at the Reds. Villa have been a struggling outfit for the last 10+ years, until now.
Nowadays, Villa are a different beast. With a clear tactical vision and style of play, they are up there with the best in the league.
The criticism of United comes as Ten Hag has been in the role for less time than Emery, but has no recognised style per se.
From a Villa fans’ point of view, they could of only dreamed that one day in the not-too-distant future they would be compared to the Red Devils.
It is a great time to be a Villa fan with Emery’s revolution of the club. If you had told fans when they were watching Championship football that less than ten years later, Champions League football was realistic, you’d be laughed at.
