Former Aston Villa forwards, Gabby Agbonlahor and Darren Bent have been discussing Emi Martinez and how good a signing he has been.
It has been a great campaign so far for Aston Villa which sees them currently occupying third place in the Premier League.
Under the management of Unai Emery, the Villans have gone from strength to strength and are amongst the league’s elite.
There have been some star performers under the Spaniard with the whole team growing in confidence and ability.
With Ollie Watkins registering nine goals and six assists in 17 games, to Douglas Luiz being one of the best midfielders in the league.
One man who has become one of the best in the world in his position is Emi Martinez. He is now a Copa America and World Cup winner, both won in his time with Villa.

Now two former Villans have been discussing the goalkeeper and his impact at club and international level.
What has Gabby Agbonlahor said about Emi Martinez?
Gabby Agbonlahor is always talking about Aston Villa while on TalkSport, which has reinvigorated his popularity amongst Villa fans.
This week, himself and former Villa record-signing, Darren Bent have been discussing Martinez with the latter asking a question.
On their show, Bent said: “Do you think that is one of the best signings in Aston Villa history?”
With that in mind, Agbonlahor said: “Of course it is. I have been having this argument saying he is the best goalkeeper in the world and others are saying what about Alisson, but he is the best goalkeeper in the world. He has won the World Cup. Some of the saves he makes! He is outstanding with his feet as well. He’s a presence, he’s a big guy.”
It is safe to say that the Englishman holds Martinez in high regard. Comparing him to stars like Alisson is as much a compliment as a goalkeeper can have right now.
With that being said, Bent wasn’t quite sure of his partner’s opinion and had the Argentine further down his rankings.
On that, he added: “I would have him third in the league. I would have Ederson and Alisson at the top of the pile. But Martinez is… wow.”
Whatever the opinion, there is no doubt that Aston Villa have been great in recent weeks and Martinez has been integral. With his ability with the ball at his feet paired with him making world-class saves every week, he is top-class.
