Curtis Davies has told Aston Villa fans on Twitter that there was ‘no top six bias’ from him following his controversial comments about Aston Villa on Sky Sports.
Following the conclusion of Manchester United’s 2-1 win at Luton Town, it made life more interesting when it comes to the battle for the Champions League places.
Only five points separate Manchester United in sixth and Aston Villa in fourth, with discussion around who will claim that place when the final ball is kicked in May.
One argument Curtis Davies put forward was the fixture schedule facing Unai Emery’s men because they are in Europe and how an injury to a ‘bigger’ player could derail them.
As you can understand, those comments didn’t go down well with the Aston Villa fans because the team has already suffered three ACL injuries, including the likes of Diego Carlos, Ezri Konsa and Jhon Duran on the sidelines.
That’s enough evidence that the team have already suffered injuries to big players, but Curtis Davies suggested on Twitter his comments were taken out of context.
The former centre-back was donning Aston Villa colours the last time they were in the top six, so he understands what it takes and he mentioned that in his message supporters.
Curtis Davies’ message to Aston Villa fans
“For context, I did mean ANYMORE big players due to the amount of games if Villa go deep into Europe,” said Davies.
“No top 6 bias from me, if my bias was going to be anywhere it would be with Villa. Only time I’ve been there is with.”
Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest
After picking up a very much-deserved win against Fulham over the weekend, attention will now turn to this Saturday.
Nottingham Forest will make the short trip across the Midlands, with Emery keen on getting the home form going again after three defeats in a row.
Regardless of both teams’ form, this is a game we should be winning, and if we want to keep the runaway train of Manchester United away, then nothing but three points will be accepted.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if it’s a bit of an open game because Forest are lethal on the counter-attack, but surely they won’t be able to handle our attack, especially star man Ollie Watkins.
