Aston Villa have been dealt yet another blow, with reports emerging over a potential injury to Diego Carlos during a training session.
Aston Villa have suffered a horrendous time with injuries this season, forcing Unai Emery to test the adaptability of his squad to keep the momentum going at Villa Park.
Despite seeing his squad suffer three ACL injuries to three of his starting XI players, the Spaniard has managed to ensure his squad remains consistent on the pitch, as Villa still eye Champions League football.
Securing a top-four finish up against the growing list of absences would surely be a miracle for Emery to achieve now, with his catalogue of players on the sidelines reported to have grown even more.
Diego Carlos injury news has emerged
Yesterday, journalist Jacob Tanswell shared the news that Diego Carlos had suffered a hamstring injury during training, providing yet another blow to Villa’s defence.
Tanswell said: “Diego Carlos has sustained a hamstring injury in training. Yet to discover if the injury is serious but could add to the growing injury concerns at Aston Villa.”
The worrying news for Emery’s side isn’t just the extensive list of defensive players absent, but the concern over the severity of the Brazilian’s injury, who has spent a large fraction of his time in England on the sidelines.
Aston Villa may have to adjust without Diego Carlos
Villa were forced to adapt to life without Carlos during his first season at the club after he sustained a severe Achilles injury that left him out of action for a total of 213 days.
Adjusting to life without the centre-back now is a whole new challenge, as Emery’s defence is already agonisingly short on numbers.

In recent fixtures, the manager has had to field options lower down the pecking order in the back line, with first-team quartet Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres, Lucas Digne and Tyrone Mings all recently out of action.
Mings’ injury came in the first game of the Premier League season, leaving Emery at a disadvantage from the opener.
Now, the Spaniard must think again about how to best utilise his defence, with the injury to Carlos wiping out another central defensive option, leaving just Clement Lenglet and the newly returning Pau remaining.
After learning of Boubacar Kamara’s season-ending ACL injury this week, the prospect of facing another injury scare presents a monumental task for Emery to overcome.
The race for top four is still on, in what will now be an uphill climb for Villa who have suffered yet another huge blow on the injury front.
