Sheffield United manager, Chris Wilder has come out with plenty of praise for Aston Villa ahead of the clash on Friday night.

Home form has been a true strength for Aston Villa throughout the end of last season and this campaign so far. Now they welcome Sheffield United to Villa Park as they look to move to top spot in the Premier League.

Under the stewardship of Unai Emery, the Villans have been superb and with that sit third in the table. Although the away form has been questioned, the quality of football at home is undoubted.

This week sees the Blades come to face Villa after a very difficult start to their first season back in the Premier League. Cameron Archer is returning to face his former club for the first time since moving in the summer.

Given the Villans’ last two wins at home have come to Arsenal and Manchester City, they will remain hopeful.

What has Chris Wilder said about Aston Villa?

Following his return to the dugout at Bramall Lane, Chris Wilder has not set his sights on a trip to Villa Park this week.

Speaking to Sky Sports, ahead of the game this Friday, the Blades’ manager has been full of praise for Emery’s side. He particularly pointed out their excellent home form in recent months.

On that, he said: “15 wins out of 15 at home, so always a tough place to go. Always love going there as well as a player and a manager, some good experiences there as well but doesn’t come much tougher. They’re obviously on a fabulous run.”

It is safe to say that Villa represents a tough test for anyone right now so teams are wary of coming to face them. Wilder was also full of praise for Emery and the work he has done in B6.

He continued, saying: “An incredibly well-coached team with outstanding individuals and an opportunity obviously for them to go top of the division on Friday night.”

With all that being said, Wilder is under no illusions as to how stern an opposition the Villans will be. He believes his team still need to turn up and perform to have any chance.

Finishing on that point, he said: “A lot of issues that we’ve got to solve on the night. As we’ve talked about you know it’s no good getting on the bus if you don’t believe and you’ve not got any confidence in your own ability, in your team’s ability to go and get a result you know when that’s how we must approach the game.”

It has been an excellent run for Villa and they will be hopeful of continuing their excellent form in the coming weeks.
