Aston Villa duo Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are edging closer to a first-team return after their ACL injuries.
Injuries plagued Villa’s 2023/24 campaign with multiple first-teamers falling onto the sidelines.
Many were out for multiple months as Unai Emery’s side qualified for the Champions League.
However, two stars that the Villa Park faithful have eagerly been anticipating the return of are Mings and Kamara. Thankfully, they have just taken a giant step towards returning to the first team.
Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara make Aston Villa comeback in academy match
The Aston Villa duo both suffered ACL injuries during the 2023/24 campaign. Mings was forced off the pitch in the opening-day defeat to Newcastle. Following this, Kamara was then sidelined against Man United in February.
However, they have both been recovering well, with Emery recently suggesting that Mings and Kamara are close to returning.
Now, the duo has returned to the field as they competed in an academy match on Saturday.
Both Mings and Kamara started and played the first 45 minutes against Newcastle in the Premier League 2, before the side were defeated 3-2.
Tyrone Ming and Boubacar Kamara returning for Aston Villa is a big boost
The duo are no doubt two of Villa’s best players when they are fit. It is a credit to Emery how he got the squad to perform without Mings and Kamara, but when they do return, it could help transform the Claret and Blue side further.
With Villa loaded with games this season, the addition of the duo will easily make the club more competitive in multiple competitions and help them close in on a trophy.
The task the club now has is to ensure the final few steps for Mings and Kamara are taken carefully and that they do not rush the process.
Thankfully, with an international break coming up, it presents a great opportunity for the duo to regain match sharpness for the late October and November fixtures.
