Aston Villa fans will be wondering when Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara will return to the squad, with Unai Emery now providing an update.
It’s been a long time coming but Aston Villa could soon have centre-back Tyrone Mings and defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara back in the first-team squad.
Mings hasn’t played a single minute of senior football since doing his ACL last August against Newcastle United. Meanwhile, Kamara last played in the defeat to Manchester United in February, with the Frenchman also tearing his ACL.
It’s been a long road to recovery for both players but the fans were delighted to hear that Kamara and Mings both returned to Aston Villa training recently and now Unai Emery has revealed when they could make a matchday squad.

Unai Emery shares clear Aston Villa plan for Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Ipswich Town on Sunday, Emery has revealed a clear plan for the Aston Villa duo.
Following two long-term injuries, the Spaniard acknowledged that it’s important not to rush them back, repeating their success with Emi Buendia.
Confirming that the pair returned to 100% training sessions last week, he plans on playing them in the under-21s next week.
Then, if all goes well, he’ll draft them back into the first-team squad after the next international break in the middle of October.
“They are training very well,” Emery said via X. “They started to be with us 100% during training sessions last week. And the plan with them is to try and start playing with our Under-21s next week, 45 minutes. After the break they will be available should everything go well to be with us.”
When Kamara and Mings could return for Aston Villa
Villa have some important fixtures on the horizon. After they visit Ipswich Town on Sunday, they host Bayern Munich in the Champions League before Manchester United travel to Villa Park.
The clash against the Red Devils is their final match before the international break and then it’s a jaunt down to West London to take on Fulham.

That match takes place on October 19th, meaning if both Mings and Kamara make sufficient progress in the coming weeks, they could be named in the matchday squad.
Emery will look to give both players minutes from the bench at first as they build up their match sharpness but once they do, Kamara could take his place in midfield alongside one of Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans while Mings will battle Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres for a starting spot.
With plenty of fixtures on the horizon, Villa fans may not have to wait too long to see both players in action again, as long as everything goes to plan.
