Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne has shown his support for Boubacar Kamara on social media following news of the 24-year-old’s injury blow.
Aston Villa hoped to put the two defeats from last week behind them to put some positivity back into Unai Emery’s group, a plan that has been somewhat derailed by the damning news of Boubacar Kamara’s injury.
During the Villans’ loss at home to Manchester United on Sunday, Kamara came off just after the hour mark clutching his knee after going down unchallenged.
It was yesterday revealed that the Frenchman’s season is over, having suffered an ACL rupture that will require surgery and an extensive rehabilitation process to overcome.
Journalist John Townley described the news of the 24-year-old’s injury as a “devastating blow” for Villa, with Kamara joining Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings as those affected by an ACL tragedy this season.
Well wishes have flooded in to show support for the France international after examinations revealed the worst, with his international teammate Lucas Digne posting a tribute on social media.
What Lucas Digne said to Boubacar Kamara after the injury news
Taking to Instagram, the left-back penned a four-word message for his teammate.
Posting a picture of himself and Kamara, Digne said “une machine on a dit” which translates to “a machine we said”.

The 30-year-old will understand the physical and psychological woes that Kamara is set to face having faced a host of injury problems throughout his career, including his recent recovery that saw him out of action for over a month.
Unfortunately for Kamara, the prognosis is an absence that will span beyond the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, as ACL ruptures require surgery and a vast amount of recovery to fully heal due to the severity of the injury.
What others have said about the Boubacar Kamara injury blow
Digne wasn’t alone in showing his support for the midfielder, with fellow teammate Diego Carlos commenting on the club’s Instagram post, “stay strong brother, you’ll come back stronger.”
Journalist Jacob Tanswell took to Twitter X to comment on the influx of ACL injuries that have plagued Villa this season, describing Kamara’s absence as being a role that “no other player can fill”.
It’s an agonising reality for Villa, and primarily for the 24-year-old, who could have had a chance to feature for his country at the upcoming European Championships after featuring in Didier Deschamps’ squad during the 2023 qualifiers.
Everyone at Villa will be hoping that Kamara’s recovery is smooth and that he will be back in the squad ready for the 2024/25 campaign.
