Rare poor performance from one Aston Villa star vs Spurs
In a big game at Villa Park, Unai Emery’s team failed to perform. A 4-0 loss to Spurs hindered the club’s hopes of achieving Champions League football with multiple players underperforming.
One man who was surprisingly poor was Ezri Konsa. The defender was arguably at fault for the two first goals. Firstly, he let the ball go past him for James Maddison to tap home. He then played a terrible pass to a Spurs man which directly led to the second.
Sky Sports commentator Dan Khan pointed out the Konsa was surprisingly poor against Spurs.

Four things we learned

The defeat to Spurs really came as a surprise to many people associated with Villa. Most saw the hosts as favourites with former Villian David James confident of a win.
However, this never came to pass with a second-half collapse in the defence putting their Champions League hopes at real risk.

John McGinn red card verdict

One of the key flash points of the game was John McGinn’s red card. The midfielder was sent off just after the hour mark when the hosts were already 2-0 down for a poor challenge.
The red really put the game out of sight for Villa with the hosts then going on to concede another two. Further punishment will soon come as McGinn is now set to face a three-match ban.
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman gave his immediate assessment of the challenge, believing the danger of the tackle was ‘open to interpretation’.
