Unsurprisingly, Jaden Philogene has hit the headlines this week after scoring a stunning goal for Hull City against Rotherham.

The 22-year-old’s Rabona in the second half helped Liam Rosenior’s side seal a vital three points.

The former Aston Villa youngster completed a £5million move to Humberside during the summer transfer window. However, according to Birmingham Live, Villa can resign the winger for £15million if Hull are promoted to the Premier League.

Another stipulation is that if a greater offer arrives from another club, Villa cannot exercise the clause. Considering the number of pieces that need to fall in place, this could be one that gets away.

20-year-old defender and Villa loanee Sebastian Revan experienced Philogene’s brilliance on Tuesday evening.

The youngster has featured 24 times for the Millers this season and was left frustrated after seeing his former teammate take the plaudits on Tuesday.

“I fully expected he’d have a good game. It was a good battle and it happened many times like that in training when we were together. I was fully expecting it and up for it. He’s a quality player,” he told Hull Live.

“I always believed he had the ability to go above and beyond. He’s a great player so young. He has lots of potential. I’ve seen it many times. It’s annoying that it had to be him but that’s the type of player he is.”

At present, letting Philogene depart for £5million looks like savvy business from the board. With Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby, and Jacob Ramsey as the pick of Emery’s attacking midfield options, it’s hard to see how the 22-year-old would fit in at Villa Park.

During the summer window, the Villa boss seemed happy with his decision to let the winger depart.

“I was very happy with him and we decided to let him to leave because we have offer, a very good offer for him and because we are thinking to play regularly here is going to be more difficult than going again in another club,” the Spaniard told Birmingham Live.

“Of course, we are going to follow him and we are going to be aware as well of how he’s developing, but we are very demanding in our squad, in our decision to keep players here. We want to be competitive in every competition we are going to face.”
