Aston Villa players returned to Bodymoor Heath on Monday as the club began their pre-season training ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Unai Emery will hope his players have spent the summer recharging after an intense season that saw Aston Villa secure a Champions League place alongside a run to the Europa Conference League semi-final.
There will be a number of new faces at Villa over the coming weeks, with the likes of Samuel Iling-Junior, Enzo Barrenechea, Ross Barkley, Lewis Dobbin and Ian Maatsen all having been signed already this summer.
However, it is the return of some more familiar faces that will be most pleasing to Villa fans.
Tyrone Mings was pictured in good spirits warming up on an exercise bike on Monday after missing the entirety of last season through an ACL injury sustained on the Premier League opening day.

Now, another player who has suffered the same injury has been posted on Villa’s social media, leaving fans excited for his return.

Aston Villa fans delighted with Boubacar Kamara return to pre-season
Villa had wretched luck with injuries last season, as Emiliano Buendia suffered an ACL injury in training days before the start of the campaign and Mings sustained the same injury days later.
Boubacar Kamara then became the third player to injure his ACL, doing so against Manchester United in February.
ACL injuries are one of the longest term issues footballer’s can sustain, but Villa fans have been boosted by the club’s ‘X’ post showing Kamara working in the gym on Tuesday alongside the caption: ‘Step by step. It’s good to see you Boubacar Kamara’.
The Villa faithful have responded in their droves with their delight at the news, with one user replying: ‘THINGS WE LOVE TO SEE’.
Another responded ‘so good to see Bouba’, whilst one fan commented: ‘Please hurry back, Bouba’.
One fan simply said ‘Yes Bouba!’, with another responding: ‘Miss him so much’.
One fan commented on the midfielder’s progress, saying: ‘I’m amazed to see him even jogging yet, hopefully he can be back for October’.
When will Kamara make Aston Villa return?

Whilst it is very much a positive to see Kamara in the gym and working on his rehabilitation, it will still be a while until he his on the pitch for Villa.
Generally, the prognosis for an ACL injury is nine months, taking the 24-year-old to November.
Whilst Emery will be desperate to have Kamara back available – especially given the sale of Douglas Luiz – the additions of Barkley and Barrenechea mean he will not have to rush the holding midfielder back.

Instead, Emery has the luxury of easing Kamara back after such a long-term injury ready to be fully fit for the second half of the campaign.
