Following the win over Brentford, Aston Villa have broken yet another club record which has seen them take the second most Premier League points in 2023.
It has been nothing short of a great season for Aston Villa which currently sees them sitting third in the Premier League.
Under the tutelage of Unai Emery the Villans have gone from strength to strength in the past 12 or so months, breaking plenty of club record stats.
Considering that he took over the club in 17th place, to now say Villa sit in joint second at the halfway point is crazy.
The Villans travelled to Brentford this weekend and fell behind just minutes before halftime. The second half looked to be getting away from Villa until Ben Mee was sent off.
Following this, Alex Moreno grabbed his first-ever Premier League goal before Ollie Watkins headed home his ninth of the season.
To follow up huge wins against Manchester City and Arsenal with three points away from home is top-class. This saw Villa take advantage of sides around them dropping to point to keep them in the title hunt. Adding to this, yet another club record has been broken.
What club record have Aston Villa broken?
With nearly a full calendar year with Emery in charge nearly at a close, Villa have now officially had their best year in the Premier League.
This has been reported on Twitter by Fabrizio Romano. He said: “Aston Villa have won 25 Premier League games in 2023, their best score in a calendar year in their entire history. It’s 81 points in 2023 for Aston Villa under Unai Emery. Only Manchester City have more.”
Given that City won a treble last season and have also won three Premier League titles on the bounce, this is a great achievement.
This year has seen the Villans secure some impressive wins which have helped to collate this record-breaking tally. From last season’s wins over Newcastle United to the recent City and Arsenal wins this season.

It has officially been the best year that the Villans have ever had in the Premier League which is quite crazy. Considering that they have finished second in the past, this season has a chance of being something special.
Under the management of Emery, in 2023, Villa have lost just eight Premier League games. With just three left this calendar year, the record could even be extended. What a year it has been.
