Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery has been praised by Neil Moxley for his side’s form this season. He has put him amongst some big names for a potential personal accolade.

It has been nothing short of a spectacular season for Aston Villa so far with them currently sitting in third place in the Premier League.

The job that Unai Emery has done in B6 has been heavily covered by the media. This comes following excellent wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.

These victories saw the Villa boss get the better of Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta in back-to-back home games. This saw a record be broken by the current crop of stars.

It is safe to say that the Spaniard has done an excellent job, especially at Villa Park, which has seen him praised in recent weeks.

What has Neil Moxley said about Unai Emery?

It is unlikely that anyone will disagree with this but Villa are currently the outlier in the Premier League top six. The other five, minus Chelsea, are the typical ‘big six’ of years gone by. This just goes to show how good of a job Emery has done.

With that being said, many fans are clamouring for him to be named amongst the elite names in the league. Speaking with Give Me Sport, Neil Moxley has opened up on that and expressed his feelings on the matter.

On that, he said: “It’s probably not even an argument that Emery is the current Premier League Manager of the Season. He just ended a 91-year-old record after they beat Arsenal last weekend. He’s engineered 15 home wins on the trot, and Villa are one point behind the league leaders.”

This run of wins has put the Villans in contention to break an all-time Premier League record when it comes to home victories.

Continuing on, Moxley added: “Who’s done a better job? Mikel Arteta has been backed with a lot of money and has transformed Arsenal into title pretenders; I get that. But it’s been staggering.

“If you look at why Emery was brought in and where Aston Villa were. Suppose there was a Manager of the Season award right now. In that case, I know that everybody’s been raving about Ange Postecoglou. But let’s be honest about it, Emery’s performance has been a little short of staggering.”

The consistency that Villa have shown over the past 12 months has shown everything that Emery is about and it has been superb. To go from 17th to a potential title race, he has to be the hat for Manager of the Season. If not questions need to be asked.
