What a game and what a win for Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Brentford!

These Aston Villa away games always seem to provide entertainment galore and the 2-1 comeback win over Brentford was no different.

It was Ben Mee’s sending-off in the second half that sparked the lifeline for the team to come back into the match, with Alex Moreno and Ollie Watkins both scoring headed goals to seal the points.

But in the dying moments of the match, Boubacar Kamara was sent off for an apparent headbutt, which left captain John McGinn ‘fuming’, according to The Athletic journalist, Jacob Tanswell on Twitter

It seems as though the Scotland star wasn’t happy with Emiliano Martinez because he was the one who ‘sparked the fight’.

Look, Villa fans know too well that Emiliano Martinez is a wind-up merchant of the highest order, so this was just a case of him trying to protect his teammate.

But it seems as though he egged it too far when Boubacar Kamara managed to see red and now he is going to miss crucial fixtures for the team.

Thankfully, Douglas Luiz, who was suspended for today’s win, will be back for Sheffield United, so he will probably just take Boubacar Kamara’s place.

John McGinn fuming with Emiliano Martinez

“Kamara sent off,” said Tanswell. “Unai Emery had ran onto the pitch to diffuse the altercation between Martinez and Maupay. McGinn fuming at Martinez for sparking the fight. Kamara sent off for leaning his head in. Emery is now booked. Madness.”

Beat Sheffield United and go top of the Premier League table

For next weekend’s fixture, we play first, before anyone else, against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United on Friday night.

Win that and we are top of the Premier League table after 18 matches. Yes, Liverpool and Arsenal might overtake us days later.

But purely from a psychological standpoint, it would be a massive boost for the team and the chance to make it an incredible 16th win on the bounce at home.

As Unai Emery is rightfully doing. Remain patient. Taking it slowly and ensuring the team isn’t getting ahead of itself.
