It’s only two Premier League games in and one Aston Villa player is already being compared to the Terminator.
Unai Emery’s side have started the new campaign in a mixed fashion, but they have looked far better than what they were producing in pre-season.
Aston Villa’s win at West Ham on the opening day of the new Premier League season helped calm the nerves.
But Villa’s defeat to Arsenal on Saturday was a hammer blow, especially given the two guilt-edge chances missed by Ollie Watkins.
Given the team’s record over Arsenal and how they ended their title hopes last season, then history should have repeated itself.
The game itself was pretty poor from both sides, with a large proportion of the standout players coming from the back, such as Arsenal’s backline and their goalkeeper David Raya.
But for Villa, the one man who stood above everyone on the pitch was Morgan Rogers because that was his best performance since joining the club in January.
It needs to be noted that Rogers was up against a very strong Arsenal midfield, with Mikel Arteta opting to play Declan Rice and Thomas Partey behind captain Martin Odegaard.
Rogers carried the ball for fun and shunned away anyone who came near him like he was an adult playing in a kid’s game.
Jermaine Pennant compared the versatile Villa star to ‘The Terminator’ and how ‘people were just bouncing off him’, as he told talkSPORT.
Morgan Rogers is like a Terminator
“I thought he had a good game,” said Pennant. “He was strong. I haven’t seen much of him, but what I have seen of him against Arsenal, he is an absolutely fantastic player.
“He was running through like a terminator. People were just bouncing off him.”

Morgan Rogers England call
Interim England boss Lee Carsley was in attendance at Villa Park and he would have been blown away by what Rogers produced.
People need to remember that this isn’t just about the performance against Arsenal, but also about helping Aston Villa reach the Champions League last season.

Rogers scored some very important goals towards the end of the previous campaign and he has now cemented himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.
As the season wears on, fans are going to want to see Rogers and Jacob Ramsey starting together for Villa because they would cause havoc on the ball.
