Unai Emery will not want to see any more of his first-team players injured before the end of the season however, Aston Villa have just been dealt another significant blow ahead of their clash with Wolves.
Having suffered three ACL injuries to key players, the Villans have had some dire luck when it comes to absences throughout the 2023/24 campaign.
On top of the season-ending injuries to Emiliano Buendia, Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara, Emery has had his adaptability tested by a number of less-severe absences also being recorded.

Latest update on Matty Cash is not good for Aston Villa
As relayed by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Matty Cash has been ruled out for three weeks following the hamstring injury he sustained on international duty.
Romano confirmed that the 26-year-old will as a result miss at least the first leg in the Conference League against Lille, as well as the challenges ahead in that period in the league, taking him out of contention for Saturday’s duel with Wolves.
Cash went down after coming on as a substitute for Poland against Estonia last week, managing only 11 minutes before being forced to withdraw as he clutched his hamstring.

Now that the length of his absence has been revealed, Villa can prepare the squad to cover his time on the sidelines.
The issue that Emery now has is that his squad was already alarmingly low on numbers at right-back, leading to a key decision to be made in January.
At the start of the year, the Villans made the decision to recall academy talent Kaine Kesler-Hayden from his loan spell at Plymouth Argyle, bolstering the options in defence.
While Ezri Konsa is the clear option to replace Cash, the 21-year-old could now be handed a shot with Villa’s schedule looking busy over the next three weeks.
The only other option the boss has at covering the right side of defence is outsider Calum Chambers, who made his first Premier League appearance of the season last month, despite being free to leave the club.
It will be interesting to see just how Emery chooses to tackle Cash’s absence, in what is set to be a lengthy spell at this time in the season without the Poland international.
