Aston Villa face Chelsea on Sunday with Unai Emery providing an injury update to two players before the match.

Aston Villa face a big test on Sunday. The club travels to Stamford Bridge with both clubs on a contrasting run of form.

Unai Emery’s side are seven games without a win in all competitions whereas the Blues are unbeaten in their last five games.

After Morgan Rogers’ winner against Juventus was controversially ruled out, pressure is ramping up to end their poor form.

However, the Villains may have suffered a further blow as it was confirmed that Jacob Ramsey would not make the clash.

Ramsey has consistently struggled with injury issues over recent years. The midfielder missed the backend of the 2023/24 campaign and he fights to stay fit.

Then, the Villa academy graduate suffered another setback before the international break.

Against Liverpool, Ramsey was forced off the field with a hamstring issue.

Since then, he has failed to recover over the international break and missed the following matches against Crystal Palace and Juventus.

Ahead of Chelsea, Emery confirmed that the midfielder is out for the clash.

Another player who has been missing from the squad since the international break is Amadou Onana

The midfielder has been sensational since he moved to the club in the summer and has scored some vital goals.

However, over the international break, Onana picked up an injury with Belgium which has ruled him out of Villa’s last two games.

With Chelsea up next, Emery refused to rule him out of the clash completely as he said: “Ramsey of course is going to be out as well, but Onana, it depends how he’s progressing. Tomorrow, if he can train or not, we will see.”
