Former Republic of Ireland man, Clinton Morrison wasn’t impressed with Lucas Digne as Aston Villa lost 2-0 to Nottingham Forest.
It was a chance for Aston Villa to move up to fourth or even third in the Premier League but they couldn’t take it.
An early goal from Ola Aina set the tone for the hosts and Unai Emery’s side just didn’t bounce back from the setback.
The second half followed much the same pattern. An early goal for Forest and despite plenty of possession, the Villains didn’t create anything much.
There was one player who seemed to see a lot of the ball but whose final ball was generally poor, £120k-a-week man, Lucas Digne.

What has Clinton Morrison said about Lucas Digne?
So, it must be said that the Frenchman managed to create the most chances in the game, with four.
Considering the lack of clear-cut chances that the Villains managed to create, this has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Of his 11 crosses, the left-back only managed a 36% accuracy and his two long ball attempts were both missed.
Speaking for the BBC, Clinton Morrison wasn’t happy with the defender: “It’s poor from Lucas Digne. Once he gets into that position, he had to flash his effort across the box.
“Ollie Watkins was waiting at the back post for a tap-in. We haven’t seen this from Aston Villa this afternoon.”
This was one thing pointed out in our player ratings, Watkins received little to no service during the game.
With just 31 touches for the England international, it isn’t good enough to supply him with so little.
On another day, Digne may have an assist or two for his troubles. With so many wayward crosses, it is hard to not comment.
Definitely not the worst player on the pitch for the Villains but a frustrating performance to say the least.
