Aston Villa weren’t the only ones celebrating this weekend because their loan players are also enjoying themselves.
Alex Moreno was loaned out to Nottingham Forest this summer, with Unai Emery preferring Lucas Diane and new signing Ian Maatsen at left-back.
Samuel Iling-Junior was part of the Douglas Luiz to Juventus deal, with the versatile attacker loaned out to Champions League side Bologna in Serie A.
The call to let Moreno go was probably expected because injuries hurt him badly last season. He lost his form and place in the Aston Villa XI.
It needs to be remembered that, when the Spaniard first came in during the January transfer window, he ended up taking Digne out of the XI, but then lost his place last season with injuries playing a huge part.
Alex Moreno shuts out Mohamed Salah
The 31-year-old has made an outstanding start to life at the City Ground, with Nottingham Forest beating Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
It ended up being a miserable time for those on Merseyside this weekend because Aston Villa secured a stunning comeback win over Everton hours later.
For the first time in 55 years, Forest beat Liverpool on their home ground, with Moreno getting the better of Mohamed Salah.
The Liverpool speedster had scored or assisted in every game this season, with Arne Slot making a 100% start after three matches and not conceding a goal.
But Moreno’s defensive masterclass and Forest’s clinical nature, saw him and his team earn a valuable and deserved three points.

Samuel Iling-Junior causes Cesc Fabregas heartache
If you didn’t know it already, former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is the manager of the Italian side, FC Como.
They were promoted to Italy’s top tier last season under the stewardship of the legendary midfielder.

But Iling-Junior came off the bench to deny Fabregas and his team a first win of the new season.
Iling-Junior didn’t start the game, but he came off the bench, and in stoppage time, he broke opposition hearts and curled a brilliant effort into the top corner.
At only 20-years-old, Villa have a serious talent on their hands and it’s going to be interesting to see how he progresses in the years to come.
