Aston Villa are looking to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Luton Town this weekend.
The Villans are coming off back-to-back wins over Fulham and Nottingham Forest, which have cemented Unai Emery’s side within the top four.
Villa’s good form has been commendable, considering their wretched injury record of late.
Diego Carlos is out with a hamstring injury. Boubacar Kamara sustained an ACL setback during the loss to Manchester United, and Tyrone Mings, Emi Buendia and Jhon Duran are all still sidelined.
However, Villa have been boosted by the return of one of their key players.
Ezri Konsa returns to Aston Villa training
As per Birmingham Live’s John Townley (personal X account), Ezri Konsa has returned to training at Bodymoor Heath after missing the last four matches.
The 26-year-old sprained his knee during the Villans’ 5-0 away win over Sheffield United.
The former Brentford man has been essential to Emery’s starting XI this season and will provide the Spaniard with much-needed competition heading into the season’s latter stages.
“A huge boost for Aston Villa as Ezri Konsa returns to training at Bodymoor Heath,” wrote Townley.
“He has missed the last four games in all competitions after spraining his knee in the win at Sheffield United.”
Selection dilemma ahead of Luton clash
The Villa boss could now be presented with a selection dilemma ahead of the weekend visit to Kenilworth Road.
Clement Lenglet is almost certain to start having deputised well in the centre of defence in recent weeks. The Frenchman’s consistency and a clean bill of health probably make him the favourite to start.
Who will partner the former Barcelona man remains a mystery. Pau Torres was forced off during Villa’s 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

Considering his influence and importance, there’s a chance the Spanish international will be wrapped in cotton wool this weekend.
Therefore, Konsa could compete with Calum Chambers for a spot in Villa’s starting XI. Chambers replaced Torres on Saturday and performed well, considering his lack of minutes this season.
There is plenty for Emery to contemplate ahead of the trip to Bedfordshire.
