Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez took to social media to dedicate his side’s 2-1 win over Fulham to the injured Boubacar Kamara.
Aston Villa climbed back into the top four on Saturday after claiming an important three points at Craven Cottage, giving Unai Emery some positivity to take into next week.
The Spaniard has had a difficult spell at Villa Park of late, not relating to performance but having his adaptability tested, as the Villans continue to see their squad plagued by injury.
Suffering two defeats at home last week wasn’t the worst thing that the club had to overcome, as the worst was realised when it came to Boubacar Kamara’s injury.
The Frenchman was diagnosed with an ACL injury after being hauled off against Manchester United, a blow that sees his 2023/24 campaign come to an end.
What Emi Martinez said about Boubacar Kamara after Fulham victory
Following the agonising news, the Villa players made the decision to show support for their teammate prior to kick-off at Craven Cottage, wearing t-shirts that read ‘Stay strong Bouba’.
The squad made the Frenchman proud with the performance to claim three points on the road, particularly after the reshuffle that saw John McGinn assume the 24-year-old’s position alongside Douglas Luiz.
After the game, Emi Martinez took to social media to show additional support for the midfielder, dedicating the win to his teammate on Instagram.

Posting a photo of the squad in their t-shirts pre-match, the Argentine captioned the post “This win is for you Bouba”.
Kamara reposted the photo that was posted by the club on his Instagram story, writing “family” to show his gratitude for his team at what is an incredibly tough time for the player.

It wasn’t just Martinez who dedicated the win to the Frenchman, as Emery spoke about his player during the post-match press conference.
The Spaniard echoed the shot-stopper’s well-wishes for Kamara, saying after the victory: “I want to dedicate this victory to Boubacar Kamara. This is for him.”
The 24-year-old’s midfield partner, Luiz, also dedicated the result to his counterpart, captioning his post-match Instagram post “For you my bro”.
Times are certainly tough when it comes to injury for both Kamara and Villa after the squad suffered their third ACL injury of the campaign.
One thing that’s for sure is that the France international has the backing of his teammates and the club in what is set to be a long road to recovery for Emery’s midfield jewel.
