Aston Villa have made a brilliant start to pre-season and they are now preparing and jetting off for their tour of the USA.

Unai Emery has Champions League football to deal with next season, so preparations need to be as good as they have ever been.

Not everyone has featured in the two pre-season friendly wins so far, with some players still on a break after Euro 2024 and Copa America, whilst others are still recovering from long-term injury issues.

Emiliano Buendia missed the entirety of last season, as did Tyrone Mings baring 30 minutes against Newcastle United, but it seems as though the powers that be at Aston Villa are taking their time with those two.

But questions have been raised about Jacob Ramsey, who also suffered an injury-hit campaign, and when he will feature because he is a crowd favourite.

What hasn’t helped matters is that there are also question marks over Ramsey’s future at Villa Park and transfer links to Tottenham.

It’s pretty clear how Emery views Ramsey at Villa amid that Tottenham transfer noise because the fans certainly love him given that he came through the club’s academy.

Aston Villa will play three matches on their 2024 pre-season tour of the USA, including against MLS outfit, Columbus Crew on 28 July.

And Villa fans will love the club’s post on Twitter, involving Ramsey, about that game because it just squashes rumours about him going anywhere.

It also indicates that fans are about to see the England U21 international sooner rather than later because he has been a huge miss, with the attacking midfielder holding aloft the Columbus Crew shirt, alongside new signing, Samuel Iling-Junior.

Jacob Ramsey and Morgan Rogers

Aston Villa fans should be excited at the prospect of Morgan Rogers and Ramsey playing together for the first time under Emery – Rogers joined the Midlands club in January.

They both have one amazing trait to their game and that’s the ability to carry the ball for fun in whatever situation.

Villa fans have all been saying the same thing about Rogers in pre-season because he has been outstanding so far, scoring three goals from two matches.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the duo start together because, as of this moment, Rogers has pushed ahead of Ramsey in the pecking order.
