Amadou Onana and Morgan Rogers wowed by ‘baller’ Aston Villa star after win v Wolves

Aston Villa have several unsung heroes in their team amid their strong start to the new Premier League season.

In recent weeks, Unai Emery has had to watch his team survive a few scares, starting with the 3-2 win at Everton and then Villa leaving it late in the Midlands derby against Wolves.

Let’s be honest, for large parts of the game against Wolves, Aston Villa were abject and deserved to be losing and they were probably lucky it wasn’t worse.

Many of the players looked off-colour and lacked that spark, some put it down to Villa’s Champions League win over Young Boys in midweek.

But that can’t be seen as an excuse because there are going to be several highly emotional games in Europe this term and the team needs to be ready.

When your players are of elite level, but are slightly off it, you know that, at any given moment, they can produce pure magic.

Youri Tielemans did just that at the weekend. He wasn’t his best for most parts, but then produced the moment of the game when his cross was laid on a plate for Ezri Konsa to fire home at the far post.

After the game, Tielemans took to Instagram to express his delight at ‘that winning feeling’ and he was lauded by his teammates in the comments section.

Amadou Onana called Villa’s new dead-ball specialist a ‘baller’, with Lucas Digne sending fire emojis and Morgan Rogers saying Tielemans is ‘so good’.

Aston Villa without Douglas Luiz

It was a body blow for Villa when Luiz left Villa and joined Juventus in the summer, those Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) proved to be a pain in the backside.

Yes, only five Premier League games have been played, but you suspected Villa to miss their star midfielder, but it hasn’t been the case.

One of the reasons for that is because of players like Tielemans and how he has probably been his side’s best player during these early stages.

Luiz isn’t getting game time at Juventus and you just wonder how this story is going to pan out because many thought Villa were worse off with this deal in the summer.
