Aston Villa star, Leon Bailey shone against Manchester City as his goal secured all three points on the night to send Villa third.
This season just gets better and better for Aston Villa as they were able to secure a famous win over Manchester City.
The treble winners rocked up to Villa Park looking for their first win in four Premier League games. Unai Emery’s side didn’t afford them that chance and they came away with all three points.
There were top-class performances all over the pitch. Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres were praised for the part they played. Another star that has received praise is Leon Bailey who scored the winner on an ‘amazing‘ night.

It must be said he contributed plenty on the night and was well deserving of the praise he received.
What has been said about Leon Bailey?
It is safe to say, Bailey has been one of the standout performers for Villa this season, not even just last night.
The City game was just the fourth start he has made in the Premier League this season. With that being said, he has scored five and assisted three in just 546 minutes. This averages out at a goal involvement every 68 minutes.
Against City, he did show the quality he possesses. This was picked up on by Sky Sports who said: “He’s been a bright spark for Villa all night. He’s earned that luck. It is brilliant by Bailey, who has tormented Gvardiol all evening.”
Manchester City played with a fluid back line and midfield which featured four traditional centre-backs and two full-backs. It afforded Bailey more space. Looking at his SofaScore, Three successful dribbles, three shots on target and two key passes summed up his performance in the best possible way.
Gvardiol was by no means the worst players on the pitch but the Jamaican had him dancing when he had the ball. The Croatian was left guessing what to do up against the Villa man who eventually got the match-winning goal.
It was clear that Bailey had put everything he had in helping Villa secure all three points. He came off late on for Moussa Diaby and looked visibly exhausted as he did so. Although he may have liked to see out the game he had squeezed out every last drip of workrate he had left.
He has had a super season, as have most. Even with a lack of game time, Bailey has stood out amongst the rest.
